Nathan Haines
With seven solo albums, four of those released internationally, and guest spots on hundreds of releases, Nathan Haines has been at the forefront of modern soul, jazz and electronic music for over 20 years.
His albums Squire for Hire and Soundtravels, produced in London by Phil Asher, have remained classics, and featured US soul legend Marlena Shaw, UK diva Vanessa Freeman, US poet Rich Medina, Damon Albarn in his D2 guise singing a Steely Dan cover, plus the hit singles Earth is the Place (released on Francois Kervorkian’s US label) and Squire for Hire.
Nathan has also recorded an album with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and has played many major festivals and clubs throughout the world including the 2010 Java Jazz Festival, Tokyo Blue Note, the North Sea Jazz Festival, London’s Jazz Cafe and Ronnie Scotts, and the UK’s Southport Weekender. He is also doing his own headline show at the legendary Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club in London this August. Nathan is truly one of New Zealand’s jazz pioneers, creative and brave his vintage was an exceptional story.
Dan Gosling
Dan Gosling is at the forefront of New Zealand’s emerging fame in the fashion industry. He has many strings to his fashionable bow, including: founder of boutique stores Black Box and co-founder of The Department Store, as well as the creator of Stem, which distributes over 20 fashion labels through New Zealand and Australia including Moscot, Ksubi and Insight. His new project White Box is an online store specialising in brands from New Zealand, Australia, USA and Scandinavia including One Teaspoon, Dr. Denim and Something Else.
Like his Nom D short pea coat that he got when he was 19, Dan’s vintage has improved with time and never goes out of style.
Ian Morden, Cloudy Bay estate director
As estate director of Cloudy Bay, Ian Morden and the Cloudy Bay team are custodians of the legacy that took New Zealand wine to the world. The reach of Cloudy Bay internationally is now the stuff of inspiration; you can turn up to a bar in Bollywood, India and buy a bottle of Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc or find it in Japan or the UK. Ian has the wonderful duality of living in Marlborough, an inspiring and isolated place at the top of the South Island, while working on a global stage.
Ian’s vintage spans the 1990s, when Veuve Clicquot took an interest in Cloudy Bay and when Cloudy Bay Te Koko was created; a pioneering and entirely new interpretation of Sauvignon Blanc, indigenous, unique and seductive.
